Thanks to our generous network of donors, we were honored to present a $1,000 scholarship in memory of Ally Smith at Walpole High School’s 2014 graduation ceremonies on Sunday, June 8th. Ally was the first person Hope Strengthens Foundation was privileged to support back in 2011.
The recipient, Abigail White is a National Honor Society student, who will attend UMass Amherst College of Nursing this fall.
The following statement was read upon presentation of the scholarship:
“Alexandra “Ally” Smith was a 2006 Walpole High School graduate. Walpole-based nonprofit, Hope Strengthens Foundation, was privileged to assist Ally following an auto accident where she suffered life-threatening injuries. Ally fought incredibly hard to battle back and rehabilitate from her injuries. Sadly, on November 19th, 2012, she lost that fight.
Ally loved life and laughter, people and animals. She worked hard towards her goal of becoming a veterinarian, and spent countless hours caring for horses, dogs, and all other animals that crossed her path. Along the way, she also touched the lives of the people she met.
Hope Strengthens Foundation is honored to present this scholarship in memory of Ally Smith.”
