Update on Neil Hajjar

Aug 20, 2013 | News & Events

We are so pleased to share with you that Neil is doing great following his brain surgery at Boston Children’s Hospital on July 31st.

Prior to the surgery, Neil’s brain was being deprived of so much oxygen and blood that he was left incredibly weak and exhausted. That little boy has vanished and Neil has returned to his old self! He is much more vocal again, which his family hadn’t experienced since before his stroke. Neil has more energy, is eating better, and he is smiling and laughing more often.

To our supporters, thank you for your incredible generosity! Your donations helped Neil and the Hajjar family through this challenging time. The brain surgery saved Neil’s life. Had he not undergone this procedure, the doctors told his family he would have only had two years to live.

With his Moyamoya disease under control, Hope Strengthens Foundation is now focused on helping Neil in his fight against the neuro-developmental disease, MECP2 Duplication Syndrome. It will be an uphill battle, but with Neil’s determination and your support, we will continue to make a difference.
