Laurel Pearl Bares

Jun 17, 2018 | News & Events

It is with broken hearts that we learned sweet Laurel Pearl Bares passed away on June 15th.

In the midst of her battle against neuroblastoma, the family recently received the dreadful news of a new diagnosis – mixed lineage leukemia, which was caused from one of the initial chemotherapy drugs Laurel received last year.

After evaluating all options with the team of doctors they’d been working with, her family decided it was time for Laurel to spend her final days at home surrounded by family and friends who loved her dearly. Laurel touched the lives of so many with her amazing strength and pure spirit, despite all that she endured. It was a special honor for us to have crossed paths with Laurel and her family. She will be forever in our hearts.

Thanks to our donors, HSF was able to provide targeted financial support to cover medical bills and out of pocket expenditures for Laurel’s care. We will continue to honor Laurel’s memory.

Laurel’s family asks that in lieu of flowers or gifts, to please make a donation in her name to the group Beat NB.
