Back in the saddle!

Dec 17, 2016 | News & Events

After battling an illness, Neil Hajjar was back in the saddle at his Mane Stream hippotherapy session. This innovative therapy uses horseback riding as a therapeutic or rehabilitative treatment, especially as a means of improving coordination, balance, strength and speech. It is especially helpful for children like Neil who are battling neuromuscular disorders.

Neil was very excited to meet his new horse, Justin. His last horse, Alvin, retired and actually lives just up the road from Neil and his family. Neil’s stamina was no where near where it was the last time he rode. He’s grown and struggles to find his new center of gravity, so staying upright was difficult. Neil’s speech therapist at Mane Stream, Melanie, is continuing to work closely with Neil’s speech therapist at school so they can collaborate on the best approaches to help Neil advance.

Insurance doesn’t cover hippotherapy sessions. As a result, Hope Strengthens Foundation is honored to cover the full cost of each treatment for Neil. If you’d like to support us in assisting Neil, please make a donation at the link below and in the notes section state, “for Neil Hajjar.”
